Those weren't alien lights you saw last night (February 25th). They are called light pillars, which happen during cold temps like we experienced last night into early this morning. The visual phenomenon is created by the reflection of light from ice crystals in the atmosphere. Local photographer Jay Callaghan is a night owl, and took these beautiful pics below around 1:45 a.m. in the Parkhill Rd West area looking towards Chemong. "Once the clouds rolled in the pillars disappeared, so I was at the right place at the right time," Jay tells us. You sure were.

A Bunch Of Guys Are Going To Watch The Super Bowl In This Totally Epic Ice Hut On Chemong Lake

[UPDATE: Huffington Post Canada picks up our story.]

Granite bar counter, hardwood flooring, beer lights, a full Bose surround sound system with plasma TV and Bell Expressvu Sattelite, woodstove, lots of beer and whiskey—yep the only missing in this ultimate man cave on ice is a ping pong table. This house, er, ice hut is constructed on Chemong Lake near Ennismore, Ontario. The owners/builders are Lee Gynane, Jay and Ben Mark, Shawn Gallant, Aaron Davis, Tyler Sabatino and Greg Young. It's 12' X 14' with a 12' cathedral ceiling. There's a fishing hole in there as well; they used an auger to go through the wood and ice. They use a wood stove to heat the place, and also cook on it too. They could stay the night in it but don't as they all live 5 minutes from it. This Sunday, they're having a Super Bowl party there. No doubt it will be awesome. Anyway, take a look for yourself at this beauty...
