Here Are Pictures From A Surprise Marriage Proposal Saturday Night At Little Lake Musicfest

On Saturday night, Little Lake Musicfest attendee Travis Reid was called on stage by Musicfest staff, who said they had found his lost credit card... or had they? When he took the stage, he was handed the microphone and asked his girlfriend Alisha Michelle Springer to come up on stage. He then got down on one knee and proposed to her, much to the delight of the audience. She said yes. Well done Travis. Congrats to both.

Sebastian Bach's New Jersey Home Destroyed By Hurricane Irene

The flooding around Bach's homePeterborough's Sebastian Bach was devastated yesterday to see his house destroyed by Hurricane Irene.

Here is an excerpt from a long post he did on Facebook about the damage: "I am numb, in shock, & devastated to report that my home of 21 years, my house featured on MTV Cribs, has been destroyed, condemned, & deemed uninhabitable due to the extreme flooding courtesy of Hurricane Irene. In the 2 decades I have lived in this home, there has never been a single drop of water in the basement or anywhere else in the structure. Now Irene has overflowed the reservoir adjacent to my house. The surging waters have snapped the bridge in half next to my house & sent the bridge straight into my garage, knocking the house off of its foundation. The basement that has been dry for over 2 decades is now overflowing with water & I am not even allowed to start pumping the water out due to fears of electrocution. Original Skid Row & KISS fans, I have bad news for you. Gone are irreplacable items, such as my KISS Gargoyles from the 1979 tour. KISS pinball machine. Skid Row master tapes, video & audio, concerts, master tapes from Oh Say Can You Scream etc. Boxes & boxes of one of a kind Skid Row memorabilia, from the first tour to our last, all stuff I collected on the road that no one else had. I had a library in the basement with every single magazine that had Skid Row on the cover. This library took up a big part of the basement. All of this is lost now."  The street Bach lives on

Bach, who has decided to move to LA after what happened to his NJ home, did have a bit of a sense of humour about the destruction: "Somewhere under this water is a KISS pinball machine & 2 gargoyles from the Dynasty tour. If you see them floating past your house, they're mine. Or at least they were :(," he said in another Facebook post.

PtboCanada Review: The Burning Hell At Bluestreak Records

Burning Hell performing at BluestreakIt was a wild weekend of live music these last few days, what with Wakestock rocking Beavermead Park, The Peterborough Folk Festival delivering a day full at Nicholl's Oval and the last show of the 2011 Peterborough Little Lake Musicfest season.

That wasn't the end of it either. Afterparties and shows filled city bars and clubs with revellers determined to enjoy one of the last weekends of the summer.

As a rather large exclamation point to the weekend's festivities, a sort of homecoming happened in an unlikely locale.

The Burning Hell played a low-key show at Bluestreak Records last night to a crowd of 40 in-the-know fans. Band leader Mathias Kom is in town and gathered many locals who've contributed to the band, in both recording and touring capacities over the years for this small show.

It was a gem.

Kom, along with Jill Staveley, Michael Duguay, Nick Ferrio and Adam DeMarsh, all worked together for a short but rousing set which brought the house down.

Rumour has it, they've got something else planned for this coming Tuesday night. Watch the interwebs for details.

There Is Road Construction Happening All Over The Patch Right Now

Lansdowne Street is not comfortable for driving right now

There is road construction everywhere right now in the city: on Parkhill near Monaghan, on Water Street between the Zoo and Trent. And then there is Lansdowne Street West, which is going to be very congested for the next little while as sections of the road are being widened and resurfaced. Currently it is down from four lanes to two lanes of access. The intersection of Brealey Drive and Lansdowne is also being worked on, which will hopefully alleviate it from being a high accident location.
