Join the Peterborough Museum for the opening weekend of our newest exhibition, "Past Presents". As the old adage goes, "it's better to give than to receive." This exhibit will bring on feelings of nostalgia and fond memories as you view the presents of our past. This exhibition features objects that were once thoughtful gifts, later to be donated into our permanent collection with the hope of one day having their stories shared. Well today is that day! The objects in this exhibition range from the 1880s to the 1960s. "Past Presents" will be on display until March 20, 2022.
During the Warm Up event, visitors are encouraged to do some holiday shopping for their own gift-giving needs. They will offer complimentary gift-wrapping, as well as demonstrations of one of the gift shop's newest line of products - Furoshiki by Kokoro! Originating in Japan, furoshiki is a piece of fabric designed with many purposes in mind - it can be used to wrap gifts, as a handheld purses, or as a reusable shopping bag! It's all in how you tie the fabric. This is a stylish and eco-friendly alternative to traditional wrapping paper.
For the kids, the Augmented Reality sandbox will be open. This is not only a great learning tool, but also a super therapeutic experience. Little hands cannot resist the feeling of sand through their fingers, and seeing all of the lights change colour as you manipulate the landscape. There will also be complimentary grab bags for all of our little visitors!
Face masks and physical distancing are required on-site. Please be prepared to self-screen for COVID-related symptoms prior to entering.
Admission is by donation.
