Community Information Session: Mixed-Use Corridor Guidelines

The City of Peterborough is hosting an online community information session to present the new urban design guidelines for the Mixed-Use Corridors. The community information session is from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 through a virtual meeting with opportunities to join online or by phone.

To attend the session, please register through Eventbrite: https://PeterboroughMUCUDG.eventbrite.ca(External link). The session will include a presentation and is intended to educate the community regarding the content, organization and application of the Guidelines and provide an opportunity for questions.

Urban design guidelines are a series of design statements and images that explain the City’s desired design elements and qualities that shape development and the public realm (e.g., public streets and parks). The new Official Plan directs for the City to prepare urban design guidelines for its Strategic Growth Areas, namely the Central Area and Mixed-Use Corridors. Strategic Growth Areas are expected to accommodate significant population and employment growth through a compact built form and broad mix of land uses. The Mixed-Use Corridors in the Official Plan consist of five major arterial roads: Lansdowne Street, Clonsilla Avenue, Chemong Road, Armour Road and Water Street. The Mixed-Use Corridors Urban Design Guidelines build on the directions and policies in the new Official Plan and are also informed by the outcomes of a four-day community design charrette held in June 2018 as part of the Official Plan Update.
