PTBOCanada Featured Post: Moloney Financial Solutions Inc.; Shifting Focus Doesn’t Mean Dan Moloney's Goals Have Changed

After spending roughly the last 16 years with Sun Life Financial, Dan Moloney has learned a thing or two about balancing family and career. The father of four, with his wife Amy by his side, knows there is a fine line when it comes to maintaining an active schedule and while things continue to change around him, he has no plans of slowing down. For him, keeping things positive helps push him in the right direction, no matter where that might take him.

Born and raised in Peterborough, Moloney attended both St. Peter’s and Holy Cross during high school before obtaining his Business Degree at Trent University. With a true love for his hometown, making the decision to begin his career in Peterborough was a no-brainer and he has not looked back since.

As a financial advisor, Moloney and his Moloney Financial Solutions Inc. team work primarily with young families, pre-retirees and business owners. They help to develop plans to ensure people's most important assets — themselves — are protected through a combination of the right financial, investment and insurance planning avenues.

This helps to ensure they can prepare for both short-term and long-term goals. For him, good communication has always been key, allowing for comfortable situations to be created which leads to making the greatest possible plan that works best for his client’s lifestyle.

In late 2019, big changes for the company took place as Sun Life Financial relocated its well-known office just off The Parkway to its current location of 1054 Monaghan Rd. The new space allowed Moloney and his team to bring on some new staff to work alongside their growing clientele despite what COVID eventually threw at them in 2020 and beyond. This new location gave the team a fresh start to take on the tasks that lay ahead of them.

While Moloney’s professional goals have remained intact, his focus has shifted over time and with good reason! Amy, who has been a registered nurse at Peterborough Regional Health Centre for over 15 years (currently stationed in the ICU) welcomed twin girls in the fall of 2021, doubling their parental responsibility!

The growing family, who now call Mount Pleasant home, have learned over the years that while professional accomplishments matter so does your involvement in the community when it comes to giving back. Frequently, it is the latter of the two that ends up meaning more in the long run which is where Moloney has continued to concentrate a lot of his efforts.

Moloney has made it his mission to stay as involved in the community as often as time allows and the involvement is vast. Volunteering his time and talents, he currently sits on the PRHC Foundation board of directors, is the Chair of the Peterborough Public Library, lends his time to Peterborough Public Health and sits on the Peterborough-Kawartha Children’s Aid Society Board of Directors who received some of the proceeds from the PTBOCanada “Lids for Kids” hat sales.

As he continues to stay busy and put his time into different efforts outside of his career, Moloney has stayed passionate when it comes to giving his clients and colleagues correct, transparent and trustworthy advice no matter the circumstance.

He works tirelessly to make his client’s problems his problems while giving them his time and advice where needed. He loves all his business and volunteer opportunities that allow him to work with many great people around our community and can’t see himself doing anything else in the near future!
