PTBOCanada Featured Post: Get Back to Your Roots With Griffin’s Greenhouses

Gain expert gardening advice and shop plants and supplies for your garden at Griffin’s Greenhouses– in Lakefield since 1976.

Griffin’s Greenhouses Nursery and Garden Centre (3026 Lakefield Road) is your full-service gardening centre for garden supplies, planters, decor, soils and much more.

The friendly Gardening Professionals are always there to help with any gardening needs, offering gardening workshops and custom planting.

“We’ve been here 47 years. We have the goods, we have the info and we’re reliable,” says owner Vikki. “There’s a lot of folks that took up gardening in the pandemic and are new to gardening, and they may be a little lost on where to go (but) there are no dumb questions!”

Vikki and her brother Kyle purchased the business from their parents several years ago. After going to college and university and working in other career paths, the siblings eventually came back to the family business they grew up helping their parents run.

“We had no intention of doing this as a career, but slowly realized the call of the plant was coming back to us. (Our parents) have since retired, and we just continue to grow,” said Vikki. “The business just grew with our family, and I’m lucky to have these pictures that show the growth and progress.”

With (grand) children Ben, Olivia, Jake and Mitchell’s help over the years, Vikki says she’s proud to call Griffin’s a “true family business.”

“All of our kids have worked here at some point and some of them still are,” she said. “It’s a great place to raise a family. It’s hard work, but it’s rewarding work.”

Whether you picked up gardening while stuck at home during the pandemic or consider yourself to have an experienced green thumb, Vikki and the staff at Griffin’s Greenhouses has you covered for all your needs.

“Spending more time outside, growing your own vegetables, that’s such a huge trend that has just really taken off during the pandemic. Wanting to know where your food comes from, and just getting back that connection with the Earth. These are really important things that some of us may have forgotten,” said Vikki.
