PTBOCanada Featured Post: Flying Colours Corp. Hiring Aircraft Painters At Peterborough Location

Flying Colours Corp. is expanding its paint team to fulfill growing demand and is hiring aircraft painters to work in its state of the art facilities.

“Thanks to our team we are where we are today, and we’re pleased to continue to develop with our workforce,” said Flying Colours Corp. president John Gillespie.

What is now a workforce of over 500 employees had humble beginnings in Peterborough. Over 30 years ago Gillespie merged his aircraft sales business Rapid Aircraft with his aircraft painting company Flying Colours Corp. He noted customers he’d sold aircraft to were coming back for paintwork modifications serviced by Flying Colours Corp.

“We invested heavily in our facility, our people and our knowledge to ensure our clients have access to the best expertise, all under one roof,” said Gillespie. “It means we can manage the complete process without dependence on third parties. Our team offers innovative flexible solutions developed in conjunction with the client to fulfill their requests and troubleshoot challenges.”

In 2020 Flying Colours opened its largest and most advanced paint preparation and application facility at its Peterborough, ON. headquarters.

The new purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility gives Flying Colours the capacity to paint any size business aircraft including Bombardier Global 7500, Gulfstream G700 types, as well as narrow body executive airliners such as the A220 or B737-900 models, for an elite clientele.

Flying Colours’ expert paint technicians execute a wide variety of paint techniques including electro-static and chromalusion applications at the advanced Peterborough facility.

Climate controlled, the pressurized cross-draft paint booth measures an impressive 138 ft wide and 158 ft deep with the tail height reaching 55 ft. The booth is equipped with 168 energy efficient lights that simulate natural day light to optimise paint colour matches and visibility for technicians.

The sanding, paint, purge, and cure application sequence reduces environmental impact through intelligently designed air recirculation and exhaust systems which decrease the amount of heat needed to operate, while reducing the amount of paint emissions released into the air.
