One Woman Pronounced Dead From House Fire; Police and Fire Services to Conduct Investigation

A 43-year-old woman has been pronounced dead after a fatal fire at a residence in Peterborough Tuesday afternoon.

At roughly 3:40 p.m., an officer on general patrol was flagged down and was informed of the fire at Rubidge Street and Townsend Street.  

The woman was found inside the apartment by Peterborough Fire Services and despite life-saving efforts from Fire and EMS, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Peterborough Police Service and Ontario Fire Marshal will be at the scene Tuesday to conduct their investigation. There is no word on what started the fire.
