PTBOCanada Featured Post: Learn All About Holiday Passports 2017 In Downtown Peterborough

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it…but you can totally add to it. That’s Peterborough DBIA’s mindset with the release of this year’s Holiday Shopping Passports which are returning with bigger prizes, more chances to win, and even a new look!

Back this year are the three early bird prizes of $500 in downtown money to be drawn December 6th, 13th and 20th. Brand new this year is an even larger grand prize of $1,500 in downtown money which will be drawn on January 10th, 2018.

Don’t fret if you don’t win the big one though because there is also a draw for runners-up prizes of gift cards galore from some of your favourite downtown businesses. BTW, there are more than 100 downtown businesses taking part again this year covering a wide range of shops from salons and furniture stores to fashion boutiques and restaurants.

From now until January 9th, pick up and fill out as many newly designed passports as you can for a chance at these epic prizes. Don’t forget them on Black Friday, November 24th, as your dollars will go further and your passports will fill up quicker thanks to some of the biggest sales of the year you know you’ll find downtown. Many stores are opening their doors at 8 a.m. so don’t be afraid to come down early. Take a sick day if you need to (we won’t tell your boss).

If you need a refresher, this is how the passports work: Every time you spend $10 at a participating business, a box on your passport will be stamped. When your passport is filled (20 stamps), complete the form and drop it off at a ballot box at one of the participating businesses.

Each completed passport is a ballot for a draw to win downtown money. If you fill one up, grab another and keep going. New this year is a free stamp if you drop by the Peterborough & the Kawarthas Tourism office at 270 George Street North (limit one stamp per person). Bingo fans will love this!

“The shopping passports have become a huge success for our downtown businesses and are something many people look forward to every November,” says Terry Guiel, Executive Director of the Downtown Business Improvement Area. “You can enjoy our amazing compliment of unique places to shop, eat and drink with a chance of winning up to $3,000!”

As always, thanks to the City of Peterborough Parking Division, parking is FREE for two hours starting Black Friday through to the end of December so there is no need to rush your shopping experience—unless of course you’re a sloth, in which case you’ll want to hurry up.
