This Video Of Syrian Refugees Tobogganing For First Time In Peterborough Will Melt Your Heart

A video of a Syrian refugee family tobogganing for the first time is going viral, with nearly 10,000 views since being uploaded to YouTube January 19th. And it's no wonder: the video is all joy, optimism, fun and hope.

It was filmed on Peterborough's famous Armour Hill tobogganing hill, and uploaded by OPP constable David McNab—one of the co-sponsors of a Syrian family profiled in Maclean's magazine that has settled in Peterborough.

"This family feels very welcome," McNab says. "The people here are incredible. Peterborough is lucky to have this family and others that are hoping to make the journey here soon. It's a great community!"

“Snow is a new experience…but fun is the same in any language," McNab says.  

There will be many more firsts for this Syrian family in this welcoming city and country. But this adventure in the snow is one they'll remember for a lifetime.
