9 Things You Should Know About PMC Hosting Two World Junior Hockey Championships Exhibition Games
/In exciting news for Peterborough, the city is playing host to two RBC IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships Exhibition Games at PMC December 21st and 23rd. It's part of the RBC Road to the World Juniors Tour of 10 pre-tournament games in eight Ontario and Quebec cities in the tune-up to the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship in tournament host cities Toronto and Montreal starting December 26. Here are nine key facts you need to know about these pre-championship games in Peterborough...
1. As tournament hosts, Hockey Canada looked to partner with Canadian Hockey League centres in well known hockey communities for pre-tournament games and training camps. Peterborough was chosen as host city for team Slovakia and to host two pre-tournament games. It is a collaborative partnership between the City, PMC and the Petes.
2. Peterborough was chosen for these games due to its rich hockey culture, and Hockey Canada knew fans here would appreciate hosting world class hockey. Another example of putting Peterborough on the map!
3. Slovakia's national junior team is making the PMC its training camp home December 19th to 23rd, including these two "home" games.
4. Slovakia plays Switzerland Sunday, December 21st at 7 pm (doors open at 6 pm) at the PMC, and then they play Czech Republic Tuesday, December 23rd at 7 pm at PMC (doors open at 6 pm).
5. It is an affordable family outing! Tickets in the regular Bowl are $17.50 and in the Sunlife Family Zone for only $7.50. (Club and South Club for $23 each.)
6. Go to both games and save... it's $2 cheaper! There are 2 game packs available, for only $33 in the Bowl and $13 in the Sunlife Family Zone per ticket. (Club and South Club $44.)
7. Tickets are online online at memorialcentre.ca and at the Collins Barrow Box Office at the PMC.
