City Drafts 10 Year Housing & Homelessness Plan, Asks For Public Input

From a City release today...

The City of Peterborough is releasing a draft 10-year Housing and Homelessness Plan for public input. The vision of this draft plan emphasizes eliminating long-term homelessness and ensuring quality housing that all residents can afford. It proposes commitments to action that will shape housing and homelessness activities over the next ten years in the City and County of Peterborough.

City, County and township staff have been working with Tim Welch Consulting and Public Interest to develop this draft 10-year Housing and Homelessness Plan since fall of 2012. It will be presented to the City of Peterborough Committee of the Whole on June 3, 2013 and to Peterborough County Council on June 5, 2013.

“This is a plan for housing and homeless services that builds on the strengths and successes of this community. The input and valuable insight of interested community members are key to finalizing this draft plan” remarked Malcolm Hunt, Director of Planning and Development Services.

A Community Forum to discuss the draft 10-year Housing and Homelessness Plan will take place on Thursday, June 6, 2013. This session will be held at George Street United Church, 534 George Street North, Peterborough, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This is an opportunity for the community to provide feedback on the draft plan and insight into their role when the completed plan launches in 2014.
