Here's The Latest From OPP On The Collision Between The School Bus And Commercial Van

SERIOUS MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION
(Cavan Monaghan Twp., ON) – On Monday October 24, 2011 at approximately 4:08 P.M. Peterborough County OPP, Cavan Monaghan Fire Department and Peterborough County Ambulance responded to a serious Motor Vehicle Collision on County Road 28 and the 5th Line of South Monaghan.
A southbound short coach school bus had slowed to turn left onto the 5th Line when it was struck from behind by a commercial van and pushed it approximately 300 feet south.
The 7 students, age 7 to 12 years, and the bus driver were transported by ambulance to Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC) with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the commercial van was also transported to PRHC with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Officers from the Ministry of Transport attended the collision location and the Ministry of Labour has been notified of the incident.
Representatives from the school board and bus line also responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.
County Road 28 was closed and traffic rerouted until approximately 7:00 P.M.
The investigation is continuing.
