This December 7, the Finer Things Show and Sale will be hosting its fifth annual winter. Welcoming visitors from 10:30am to 4:30pm, the event takes place at Seeds of Change, 534 George St N in Peterborough. True to its name, the Finer Things presents some of the region’s most celebrated artists and craftspeople working in a broad variety of disciplines, and is one of the most anticipated events for appreciators, collectors, and seasonal shoppers of one-of-a-kind creations. As if the welcoming atmosphere and quality of the show weren’t enough, Event Coordinator, Leslie Menagh plans to unveil a special collaboration at the event. Her recent work with The Sewing Collective at Peterborough’s New Canadians’ Centre has led to the creation of a beautiful line of textile-based housewares co-designed and sewn by newcomers. Capturing the public’s renewed love of locally-produced goods that benefit the immediate community so directly is Menagh’s ambition.
The show’s $5 cover charge helps to support after-school programming for creative teens at Madderhouse Textile Studios (http://madderhouse.com), which is producer of the Finer Things and Menagh’s full time business. Downtown street parking is free, and the venue boasts an elevator for easier access.
