Peterborough Police Seeking Suspect Who Stabbed Another Individual at a Bar

Peterborough Police Service Investigative Services Unit officers are continuing an investigation of a man who was stabbed at a Peterborough bar early Thursday morning.

At roughly 1:10 a.m,, officers were called to The Social on George Street North regarding an injured patron.  The suspect had fled the scene by the time police had arrived.  The 29-year-old victim was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment.

Omemee Man Charged With Impaired Driving After Two Rear-Ended Collisions

A 41-year-old Omemee man is facing several charges, including impaired driving, after multiple incidents on Tuesday afternoon.

At roughly 2:10 p.m., a collision occurred at Lansdowne Street and The Parkway. Another struck one vehicle from behind and was eventually moved to a nearby parking lot. A second minor collision occurred between the vehicle that had rear-ended the vehicle at the light and a parked vehicle. Officers noticed signs of impairment upon speaking with the vehicle driver, who had rear-ended the other.  An investigation revealed that the 41-year-old driver was wanted for impaired in another jurisdiction. Officers also located a small quantity of fentanyl on the suspect.

The man was arrested on the strength of the warrant and further charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Other Drugs

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on April 1.

Peterborough Police Identify and Seek Arson Suspect On Peterborough Business In March

Peterborough Police Service continue to search for 23-year-old man Dominik Puska, wanted in connection with a fire at a Peterborough business in March.

At roughly 5 a.m. on March 2, a business in the Lansdowne Street and Brealey Drive area had its front window smashed and a fire set. No one was injured in the incident.

Puska is believed to be in the Greater Toronto Area and is wanted on a charge of arson and disregard for human life.

Puska is described as:

  • Male

  • Medium build

  • 5’5, approximately 130 lbs

  • Short black hair with beard

Two Peterborough Women Arrested For Multiple Thefts After Not Scanning All Items At Self-Checkout

Two Peterborough women face multiple theft charges concerning shoplifting incidents at a Peterborough business.

The incidents were reported online to the Peterborough Police Service at the business between November and early December. In most cases, the pair would scan some items for payment and not others. In total, almost $4,100 worth of goods was not paid for. 

As a result of an investigation by the Community FIRST Unit:

A 70-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft Under $5000 x13

The accused attended the Peterborough Police Station on Sunday and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court later that day.

A 27-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft Under $5000 x9 

  • Breach of recognizance x9

The accused is currently bound by a recognizance with the following condition: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The accused was held in custody at their residence on Saturday and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on Sunday.

Peterborough Police Service Warn Public of Grandparent Scam Re-Emerging

The Peterborough Police Service has received three reports of grandparent scams in the past 24 hours in Peterborough.

In each case, victims in their 70s and 80s were told their grandchild was in trouble and needed money for bail. The victim is then called by a person claiming to be the grandchild or someone claiming to be a lawyer.  They are also told not to contact anyone about the transaction and to call a specific number when they have the money and an agent of the court would be by to pick it up. About $17,000 was lost in the three incidents. 

In each case, the description of the woman picking up the money is similar:

  • Female, slender and about 5’8

  • Long Dark Hair

  • Slim face

  • Dark Eyes

  • Possible French Accent

  • Wearing a dark top, dress pants and an elegant dark coat

  • Her demeanour was described as very professional

  • Used the name of ‘Sarah Marshall’ in one incident

The incidents occurred in the following areas:

  • Brock Street and Reid Street

  • Dutton Road and Hilliard Street

  • Whitaker Street and Armour Road

Peterborough Man Arrested In Niagara Falls After Possessing a Stolen Car and Three Handguns; Firearms Still Missing

A 20-year-old Peterborough man was arrested in Niagara Falls following the theft of a vehicle and three handguns on Tuesday afternoon.

At roughly 7:30 p.m. on Monday, a car and three handguns had been stolen from a Peterborough residence. Investigation revealed that the vehicle and suspect were in Niagara Falls. Niagara Regional Police Service officers were able to locate the suspect and took him into custody. 

Investigators with the Peterborough Police Service brought him back to Peterborough and he was charged with:

  • Theft of Motor Vehicle

  • Theft Under $5000

  • Fail to Comply with Release Order X2

  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order X2

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court on Thursday.

Peterborough Police Seeking Two Theft Suspects Involved In Pickpocketing At Lansdowne Place Parking Lot

The Peterborough Police Service are seeking two suspects involved in a pickpocketing incident at the Lansdowne Place Mall parking lot that occurred Monday.

At roughly 1 p.m., a 75-year-old resident reported that he had been running errands when a man and a woman in the north parking lot at Lansdowne Place Mall near Lansdowne Street and Monaghan Road approached him.  

The woman said he had something on his coat and started trying to clean him off when the man approached and started helping her despite the victim declining their help. When they left him, he noticed his wallet was missing and about $4,000 had been taken through his cards before they could be cancelled. 

The suspects were described to police as:

Suspect #1

  • White, female

  • 5’6

  • 150 lbs.

  • Wearing a dark hat and dark coat, medical mask on her face and what sounded like an Eastern European accent

Suspect #2

  • White, male

  • 5’10

  • 180 lbs.

  • Wearing a grey coat with a multi-coloured scarf, wearing a medical mask and also had what sounded like an Eastern European accent

Peterborough Man Arrested and Charged for Two Instances of Theft

A 36-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after two theft reports.

At around noon, Community FIRST Unit officers located a suspect matching the description of the male in the theft reports in the area of Aylmer Street and Simcoe Street. He was taken into custody and during search after arrest a laptop and a set of keys from a business were located. Both items were returned to the owners.

The man was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada X2

  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following condition: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court on Friday.

Peterborough Woman Charged With Break and Enter and Violating Probation Order

A 41-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges after a break-and-enter incident Tuesday night.

At roughly 9:30 p.m., the break-and-enter occurred at a Stewart Street and King Street-area residence.  An unknown female had entered the home and was still inside. Officers entered the home and took the woman into custody.

The woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Break, Enter a dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence

  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following conditions: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court on Wednesday.

Peterborough Man Facing Several Charges Including Setting Fire to a Person In a Residence

A 32-year-old Peterborough man faces 15 charges involving possession of a weapon and setting another person on fire after an incident on Sunday.

There was an unwanted male in a residence in the Towerhill Road and Hilliard Street area. He struck one resident in the face, punched, kicked, choked and set another resident’s clothes on fire and pointed a firearm at a third person in the house. 

At roughly 10:30 p.m. Monday, officers spotted a man matching the description given to police in the Chemong Road and Bellevue Street area. Emergency Response Team officers took the man into custody. During a search after arrest, located a pellet pistol in a backpack the suspect was carrying.

The man was arrested and charged with:

  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order x2

  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order

  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

  • Pointing a Firearm

  • Assault with A Weapon x3

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

  • Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm

  • Assault Cause Bodily Harm - Choke, suffocate or strangle

  • Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm

  • Arson - Disregard for Human Life

The accused is currently bound by two probation orders with the following conditions: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not communicate with one of the people involved in the incident.

The accused is also currently bound by a prohibition order with the following conditions: to not possess any firearm, crossbow, prohibited weapon, restricted weapon or prohibited device.

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court on Tuesday.
