Man Throws Cellphone To Ground In Bridgenorth, Police Bust Him For Having Cellphone

 From OPP release today....

On July 9th, 2013 at approximately 11:30pm, Peterborough County OPP Officers were on routine patrol on Ward Street in the Village of Bridgenorth when they observed a male walking on the shoulder of the roadway suddenly throw something to the ground. The item was a cell phone and it was determined the male was prohibited from possessing one.

 Charged is: Gerald Arcane, age – 46 years of Selwyn Township
 
Section 145(3) Criminal Code of Canada – “Adult – Fail to Comply with Conditions of   
                                                                       Undertaking/Recognizance”
 
Mr. Arcand was held in custody for a bail hearing scheduled for July 10th 2013 at Peterborough Provincial Court.

Peterborough's 7-Eleven Closes Before Free Slurpee Day

Every July 11th is 7-Eleven's Free Slurpee Day—except not this year in Peterborough, where they recently closed the only 7-Eleven store in town, disappointing kids (and adults) city-wide. The next closest store is in Bowmanville if you want your free Slurpee that bad (UPDATE: According to a commenter in our comments section, that one is closed now, too. So maybe Oshawa?)

A Turtle Is Thinking About Joining The Peterborough Chamber?

Stuart Harrison, CEO of the Peterborough Chamber, was welcomed by a snapping turtle at the front doors of the Chamber this morning (June 17th) and tweeted out this photo below. We're not sure if the turtle was thinking of getting a membership, but if it is boy is the Chamber going viral!

Intoxicated Man Gets In Sh*t After He Repeatedly Calls 911 Because His Toilet Is Broken

From a Peterborough Lakefield Police release today...

Mischief

On the 17th of February, 2013 an intoxicated male continually called 911 to report his toilet was broken. He was told it was not a police emergency but he continued to call. Officers were dispatched to males residence. Charged with mischief for the continual calls to 911 is Ian Thomson 53 of George St. N. Peterborough.
