David Wilcox Had A Packed House At The Venue Doing The Bearcat

It was a special night at The Venue Friday, as Canadian rocker David Wilcox played his classics like "Riverboat Fantasy" and "Do the Bearcat" to a packed crowd. The evening was sponsored by WIND Mobile, which has recently opened two stores in Peterborough—one at Charlotte Mews, the other at 999 Lansdowne Street—and WIND Co-Founder Mike O'Connor was on hand to donate a $20,000 cheque to the Peterborough Festival of Trees. Get Your Peterborough Festival of Trees City Sidewalks Tix

Tickets are now available for Peterborough Festival of Trees City Sidewalks. Festivities kick off on Tuesday, November 27th with the Tree Lighting Ceremony, and continue with unique events each night of the week. From Wednesday to Sunday, head down to Millennium Park to enjoy the Forest Fantasy (general admittance is only $5).

Proceeds support local health care initiatives such as Hospice Peterborough, Greater Peterborough Health Services Foundation, and the Peterborough Regional Health Centre Foundation.

Based on the classic holiday film, this tap-dancing delight brims with tunes—including “Blue Skies,” “Sisters,” and the ever-popular “White Christmas”—that will fill you with the joy of the season.

The 39th Annual Kinsmen Santa Claus Parade begins from City Hall at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2012 and proceeds down George Street to Morrow Park.

This year’s parade theme is "Ribbons & Bows".

If you're interested in entering a float in the parade, applications are now up on the Kinsmen Club of Peterborough website.

Hallowe'en On Hunter Street For Families Takes Place This Saturday

A special Hallowe’en on Hunter Street is taking place this Saturday (October 27th) from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Hunter St. from George to Aylmer Street will be closed down as the street becomes Haunted Hunter Street. Wear your scariest costume and view the Hallowe'en decorated windows along the street.

There will be activities for families from 2 p.m to 5 p.m, including painting, “make your own pizza”, pumpkin carving and trick or treat at local businesses.

There will also be a Zombie Walk for the United Way through the downtown starting on Hunter Street at 7 p.m., and then a Zombie street party!

You are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for Kawartha Food Share.

LOOK: Lang Pioneer Village's Spooky Halloween Is On!

Lang Pioneer Village, which just won the tourism award at the Peterborough Chamber Excellence Awards, is celebrating Halloween with their Spooky Halloween events on October 20th, 26th and 27th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. each night.

Game, contests, crafts and even live bats (brought by the Centre for the Conservation of Specialized Species) are on hand.
