The Peterborough Home & Cottage Show

The Peterborough Home & Cottage Show is the PREMIER Marketing Showplace. The Peterborough Home & Cottage Show has been in existence for 42 years and was originally known as the Kawartha Home & Sportsman Show. It started at the Kinsman Centre and the show moved to the Healthy Planet Arena after it was built, and has consistently attracted thousands of visitors each year.

Peterborough’s original – and STILL the largest – true Home Show is located east of Toronto and west of Ottawa, featuring over 160+ Home Show Exhibitors!

2023 CANCAST Fishing and Tackle Show

The Peterborough Tackle Swap and Fishing Show returns to Peterborough, Ontario under its new banner name and parent company, CANCAST Fishing. The 2023 CANCAST Fishing and Tackle Show will mark the official 2nd running of the Peterborough event and will more than double in size for 2023!

The CANCAST Fishing and Tackle show will once again be a hybrid event featuring a new expo Industry EXPO side showcasing the latest products to hit the market from top industry manufacturers, top bait makers and some of Canada’s biggest retailers. Also included in the event is the largest used fishing and tackle swap meet in Eastern Ontario. To top it off, on site we will also feature some of the Top Fishing Guides, Fishing Charter Captains, Tournament Series Directors, and top Industry Prostaff. More details to be released soon. As the sole songwriter and arranger for a group of 9 musicians, André has created his own musical brand infused with soul, roots, blues, and R&B. Using an eclectic combination of instruments, he creates a musical story that becomes the soundtrack for his lyrics.

Since first taking to the stage at age 15, André’s love and dedication have always been to the live show. Combining his powerhouse vocals with a group of world-class musicians, André makes it a priority to always give the audience an exciting, intense, and memorable musical experience. The connection between the musicians, the song, and the audience is always the ultimate goal.
Throughout the years, André’s style and philosophy toward music has attracted attention in the music community. Since his first album release in 2009, Andre has gained notoriety with awards such as “Male Vocalist of the Year” - Hamilton Blues Awards, “Song of the Year” - Blues and Roots Radio and a four-time nominee at the Hamilton Arts Awards. Kawartha Downs Announce Lineup For Kawartha Country Music Festival For July 1-2; Dean Brody to Headline

Kawartha Downs has announced its lineup for its annual Kawartha Country Music Festival, featuring several Canadian country artists for July 1 and 2 announced on Wednesday.

Multi-platinum-selling artist Dean Brody is the headliner for the festival as he will be joined by The Reklaws, James Barker Band, Jade Eagleson and Sacha.

"We are thrilled to bring back our annual country music festival to Kawartha Downs," said Summer Nickerson-Hagen, marketing director. "This year's festival will be bigger and better than ever, with an amazing lineup of talented country artists at a great price. We look forward to bringing back our signature fireworks show on Canada Day Weekend as well."

Pre-sale tickets begin Wednesday morning and through Thursday at 10 p.m. with the pre-sale code KCMF2023.

General tickets are available on Friday at 10 a.m. and all tickets can be purchased through ticketweb.ca and direct links can be found at Kawartha Downs’s website in the ‘What’s On Calendar’ section.

JUNO Award-Winning Artist Amanda Marshall Performing at the PMC on June 14

Diamond-selling and multi-JUNO Award-nominated singer-songwriter Amanda Marshall is set to perform at the Peterborough Memorial Centre on June 14, announced on Monday.

The performance is part of her ‘25 & Counting: The Heavy Lifting Tour’ with Peterborough as her third stop. It features Marshall’s new song collection entitled ‘Heavy Lifting’ being released this summer, with the first single ‘I Hope She Cheats’ being released this Friday on all streaming services.

Tickets for all dates are on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday and available at her official website. VIP packages for the tour will be available, including a meet and greet with Marshall and merchandise.

The café has been a hub for students, staff and faculty at Trent University and in the community, feeding both bodies and minds with locally-grown meals and ideas that strengthen the local food system and honour relations with the land and the community.

At 5 p.m. on the Saturday they will be gathering in the Great Hall for live music, food and some fun foodie activities. The event will have the café’s Zine/Cookbooks and new t-shirts available for the first time. All money raised will go towards purchasing the Trent Vegetable Gardens this trike for their veggie deliveries.

Shop Local Vendors at the Modern Makers Market!

The Modern Makers Market is starting 2023 off with an exciting new event to hit the Market. This is the first time they are hosting a multi-day event with entertainment to open the weekend. 

Saturday March 18th 40 small businesses and an incredible event will be introduced within the market. A special guest performance from Drag queen Xtacylove (she/her, xe/xem) and A medium named Bri (she/they) are bringing their iconic Tarot & Drag show to the Modern Makers Market! Put in your name to be chosen for a personal tarot card reading by A Medium Named Bri. Come with a question in mind that you’d like guidance on, or receive general reading where anything is possible.

Guest performances kick off at 8:00 p.m. and run until approx 10 p.m. Tickets for Saturday must be pre purchased before the event. 

On Sunday, Modern Makers is hosting their largest Spring market ever! 90+ vendors will be available to shop all things Spring. Courtney from courtyard tarot and Natasha from Henna by Tash will be at the Saturday and Sunday events. Make sure to get your name on their lists if you want a session.

So, come on! Dance, sing, and learn with Blippi and special guest Meekah as they discover what makes different cities unique and special. Canvas Combat With Jason Wilkins

The Peterborough Arts Collective presents their first big event outside of the Jason Wilkins Factory: ‘Canvas Combat’ at Farmhill Weddings and Events March 11.

10 artists will be going head-to-head in three 30 minute rounds of live painting, and all pieces created during the event will be available during an auction post-battle. 100 per cent of the proceeds will go to the artists.

Tickets are $75 each (available online here) which includes a drink at the bar (or non-alcoholic beverage), personal charcuterie board (or vegan & vegetarian option) and travel to and from the venue by Pascal Bus Co., leaving from 188 Hunter St W. at 6:15 p.m.

The parade is scheduled for 2 p.m. with the route beginning on George Street at City Hall and ending at the Peterborough Memorial Centre.

Great Big Sea's Séan McCann to Perform at Market Hall on March 19

As 2023 marks the 30th anniversary of Canadian band Great Big Sea, founding member Séan McCann is performing at Market Hall on March 19 at 7 p.m.

McCann will be performing a singalong with “The Shantyman” as he sails the audience back in time with hilarious stories and foot-stomping traditional favourites to the brighter bays of his native Newfoundland.

He is a recipient of the order of Canada for his mental health and recovery advocacy. Sober since 2009, McCann has spent the last decade touring the country as a musical keynote speaker and acclaimed solo concert performer singing and sharing his story with everyone willing to listen and sing along.

“To be in the audience for a Séan McCann performance is a gift to all listeners. Through story, music and the most intimate sharing, Séan opens his heart and connects with each person in a unique way,” said Clara Hughes, Olympic gold medalist. “He allows for people to open up themselves and discover the purest forms of human potential: healing, loving, living and connecting as human beings, to ourselves and one another. I can’t emphasize enough the power and influence of Séan on stage. He is a gift to all audiences.”

'Peppa Pig's Adventure' Musical to Hit the Peterborough Memorial Centre on July 25

A live musical of ‘Peppa Pig’s Adventure’ is hitting the Peterborough Memorial Centre (PMC) on July 25, announced on Monday.

The performance is about Peppa Pig going on an exciting camping trip in the woods with George and her school friends, including Pedro Pony, Suzy Sheep and Gerald Giraffe. Lunchboxes are packed and Daddy Pig is driving the bus, Peppa and her friends are excited about their outdoor adventures, full of singing, dancing, games and surprises. 

After the show, the Peppa Pig's Adventure Photo Experience is available for ticketholders to ‘jump in a mud puddle’ alongside Peppa Pig & Friends. Children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Tickets go on sale on March 17 at 10 a.m. with presales beginning Tuesday at 10 a.m. exclusively online. PMC Scoop members can purchase tickets starting Tuesday, at 10 a.m. to March 16 at 10 p.m.

The Peterborough Theatre Guild presents Gibson and Sons

Directed by Jerry Allen and produced by Pat Hooper, this comedy performance stars Luke Foster, Dan Smith, Lyndele Gauci, Jade O'Keeffe, Brian McIntosh, Bethany Heemskerk and Sheila Charleton.

The cast and crew work together to tell Kristen Da Silva’s story of Harry Gibson, who helps his father run the family business (a struggling small-town funeral home) through he sees it beginning to interfere with his love life. Missing his recently departed mother, and hungry for companionship and the chance at having his own family, he secretly turns to an unconventional method of meeting a woman: an online Russian bride service. When his bride Katya and her acerbic older sister Eva arrive on Canadian soil, the sisters are plunged into culture shock while the Gibson family is thrown into a tailspin.

Dwayne Gretzky Returns to Musicfest for July 5

Peterborough Musicfest is bringing back Dwayne Gretzky for its 36th summer season in Del Crary Park as the Canadian group is scheduled to play on July 5 announced on Tuesday.

The group first headlined Musicfest in 2018 and is making their fourth appearance on the Fred Anderson Stage this summer.

They formed in 2011 in Toronto with some members hailing from Downeyville. The nine-member ensemble performs unique renditions of beloved classic pop and rock songs. Dwayne Gretzky is widely hailed as ‘Canada’s reigning champs of nostalgia,’ with performances of more than 700 classic songs in their catalogue.
