A Revival Of "Made In Peterborough" Is In The Works
/The Made in Peterborough concept—and logo—was introduced by Peterborough Economic Development at the International Plowing Match in Peterborough County in the fall of 2006, with about 75 local products showcased. The official campaign launch was in July 2007, with a number of promotional materials produced including CHEX television segments that featured local businesses.
The campaign lost steam in recent years, but there is talk of bringing it back in some incarnation—and with the logo.
We agree with Ann Douglas, the logo rocks...
The revival of the concept is in the prelim stages with Peterborough Economic Development (PED) and Community Futures Development Corporation (CFDC)...
"Our office has had preliminary discussions regarding a revival of the Made in Peterborough brand with Tonya Kraan at CFDC," Cara Walsh, Corporate Communications Coordinator with PED, tells PTBOCanada.
Walsh adds: "I can't speak to a timeline for a full roll-out, however I can let you know that with our 2015-19 Strategic Plan's focus on both Telling our Story and on Creating a Culture of Startups and Entrepreneurship, we are looking to celebrate the products, experiences, and both manufactured and grown goods that are 'Made in Peterborough'."
"We've had a number of clients tell us they would like to bring back this campaign as they participated in it when it was first launched," adds Tonya Kraan, General Manager, Peterborough CFDC. "On a personal note, when I take my son to the grocery store, I always show him the 'Made In....' stamp of products that I know are made locally."
It would be exciting to see this campaign be brought back in some form, as we celebrate all things made locally in the city.
