Lakefield Farmers’ Market's Annual Holiday Market Runs On Dec. 1

The Lakefield Farmers’ Market invites everyone to shop local and celebrate the season at its annual Holiday Market held at the parking lot beside The Village Inn in Lakefield on Dec. 1.

The market will contain a variety of local products, including freshly backed goods, knitwear, VQA wines, local meats, honey, maple syrup, hot sauces, handmade dog treats, prepared meals nd more.

“Our Holiday Market has become a beloved tradition, and we’re thrilled to host it again this year,” said Stacey Sullivan, Market Manager. “It’s a great opportunity for customers to visit their favourite vendors, find unique holiday gifts and since it’s on a Sunday, it’s perfect for those who can’t attend our regular Thursday market.”

Participating vendors include: A1 Gluten Free Gals, Buns & Sweets, Grandma Needled It, Jen’s Home Baking, Jess’s Kitchen, La Mesita Restaurante, Leahy Stock Farm, Otonabee River Crat Co., Ontario Cheese Union, Pillitteri Estates Winery, Purple Tongue Hot Sauce, The Doggery, The Jam Cupboard, Wagner Maple Products, Washburn Island Soaps, and Yellow House Bees & Otonabee Apiary (Vendor list subject to change).

The Holiday Market runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Lakefield Farmers' Market Extends 2024 Season Until Oct. 24

The Lakefield Farmers' Market is extending its 2024 season until Oct. 24.

While the market traditionally finishes on Thanksgiving weekend, record-breaking attendance and strong community support have allowed the market to extend its season by two more weeks.

The Lakefield Farmers' Market runs every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine, in the Lakefield-Smith Community Centre parking lot.

The market sells locally produced items, including fresh produce, baked goods, ready-made lunches, local meats, honey, maple syrup, VQA wines, handcrafted knitting and more.

“It’s been an incredible season, and thanks to our amazing community, we’ve seen record-breaking attendance,” said Market Manager, Stacey Sullivan. “We’re excited to keep the market open a little longer this year and provide a place for our community to gather and support local businesses.”

Canada Day Starts Early For Lakefield Farmer's Market On June 27

Canada Day celebrations are coming early for the Lakefield Farmers’ Market which will mark the occasion on June 27 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lakefield-Smith Community Centre parking lot at 20 Concession St.

The Lakefield Farmers’ Market runs every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine, from Victoria Day until Thanksgiving. Staff and volunteers will hand out small Canadian flags, temporary maple leaf tattoos and Canadian-themed colouring sheets. The Lakefield Village Lions Club will be in attendance with their boat raffle and Avian Agenda will provide Canadian live music.

Pam Hart from the Kawartha Truth & Reconciliation Support Group will be present with its quilt. Each square on it tells its own unique story.

Market vendors will be fully stocked with Canada Day supplies including fresh produce for salads, local meat for the BBQ, fresh baking, craft beer, VQA wines and more.

Get a Tastes of the World of Lakefield Farmers' Market's 'Around the World' This Thursday

The Lakefield Farmers’ Market is celebrating international cuisine and multicultural vendors at the ‘Around the World’ themed market behind the Lakefield-Smith Community Centre on Thursday.

There will be local vendors offering cuisine from around the world including Indo-Canadian cuisine from Jess’s Kitchen, savoury and sweet Mexican food from La Mesita and New Zealand-style meat pies from Kia Ora Pie Co.

The vendors are also stocked with their fall harvests and unique handcrafted items. Farrucas Duo will be performing live Latin music.

The Lakefield Farmers’ Market is holding a Mother’s Day Market on May 14 from 9 a.m. to  1 p.m. in the municipal parking lot next to The Village Inn at 39 Queen St. in Lakefield.

“The Lakefield Farmers’ Market is pleased to be hosting a Mother’s Day market again this year,” said market manager Stacey Sullivan. “We invite folks to bring their mom, wife, grandma or any of the special people in their life to enjoy the market!”

Lakefield Farmers Market Accepting Vendor Applications

The Lakefield Farmers Market is now accepting applications for vendors for the 2022 market season.

They are specifically in search of agriculture vendors with special interest in fruit vendors or agricultural vendors with products that are not already being sold at the market.

The market website includes a complete list of vendors already selling in 2022.

There is a non-refundable application fee of $25 that must be paid at the time of application and be sent in along with any necessary supporting documents.

If applicants produce food products they must also send your Health Unit certification. Agricultural vendors must provide their MyPick certification or proof they are applying for this for the upcoming season. Applicants must also provide proof of insurance at the time of application.

The market website also includes an updated Vendor Handbook that applicants should review.

Applications will be accepted until Feb. 28.

Over 800 People Turned Out To Support Local Food Producers At Special Holiday Lakefield Farmers’ Market

It was a great turnout this year at the Lakefield Farmers’ Market “Special Holiday Market” held on Sunday, December 6th in the Municipal Parking Lot next to the Village Inn in Lakefield.

“The market was pleased to try a Special Holiday Market this year and it was a huge success,” says Market Manager Jenny Ross. “Over 800 people came out to support local food producers and vendor sales were 50 percent greater than on a normal market day.”
