Over the past week, Peterborough Police has been conducting traffic safety initiatives in school zones and community zones in Cavan-Monaghan, Lakefield, and the City of Peterborough.

So far there have been tickets issued for speeding and other infractions.

On Friday an officer on patrol on County Road 10 near North Cavan Public School stopped a driver recorded going 99 km/h in a 60 km/h school zone.  The ticket comes with a fine of $583.

These initiatives will continue into next week.

Police remind motorists to take extra precautions as school buses return to the roads and students make their way to school including slowing down in school zones, giving themselves extra time to get to where they are going and stopping for school buses.
