The talented Flying Colours Corp. workforce is converting regional airliners into private jets at its state-of the-art facilities in Peterborough.

“Thanks to our team of cabinetmakers, upholsterers, designers, maintenance technicians, painters, and engineers we can take an aircraft that once flew up to 50 people on commercial routes and convert it into an aircraft that’s used for transporting hockey, football, and soccer teams as well as supporting music group tours. Many of the sports or concerts we watch and enjoy wouldn’t be possible without the convenience of these aircraft,” said Eric Gillespie, Executive vice president at Flying Colours. “It feels good to know we play our part in making this entertainment possible.”

The 300-strong group completely revamps the interior and exterior of the aircraft.

“To complete the project requires teamwork and great communication and needs a mix of skills. Many of our team hadn’t worked in aviation before they joined us. Many have learned their craft through training and guidance from our experienced crews,” he said.

The new cabin will seat 29 people, include inflight entertainment and baggage space for all the supporting equipment passengers will carry.

“In a market where good pre-owned aircraft are hard to find, and new production aircraft waiting times are long, conversions provide an excellent solution for operators who want to quickly access aircraft,” said Gillespie. “We have seen a renewed interest in these projects, and we are ramping up our team to support the need.
