“This helps job seekers experience the pros and cons of jobs first hand,” said Jinnell Cooper, EPC.
She notes that being able to experience the actual work gives job seekers far more information than reading about the job online.
In addition to gaining a bit of experience, while job seekers are participating they are monitored by EPC staff who are able to analyze different skills that individual possesses.
“While we observe them we’re extracting information like - Can they follow steps clearly? Can they handle high-stress situations,” she said. “If they can’t handle high stress, maybe we try something different.”
EPC has many different jobs to experience including pipe fitter, welder, carpenter, millwright, registered nurse, HVAC technician and they are always getting new options.
This opportunity is available to any job seeker. Appointments can be made through EPC.
Each appointment will take around one hour, with each different VR career experience will take about 10-15 minutes.
After each appointment, the VR headset is cleaned in an ultra-violet box to ensure any bacteria or virus has been removed before the next appointment.
