Peterborough Woman Facing Assault Charges; 15 Puppies Seized After Man Suffers Leg Stabbing At Nicholls Oval

Peterborough Police Service arrested a 46-year-old Peterborough woman with an assault with a weapon charge after an incident at Nicholls Oval on Thursday evening.

At roughly 10:50 p.m. on Thursday, officers received reports of a man at Nicholls Oval Park had been stabbed in the leg. Officers found the man and took two people into custody.

The victim was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre and was released after being treated for minor injuries. Police also discovered 15 puppies in six crates at the site.  The animals were seized and in Animal Control’s care.

Officers located and seized a knife during a search, arrested and charged the 46-year-old Peterborough woman with ‘Assault with a Weapon.’

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 29. 

The second person taken into custody was released unconditionally.
