The Peterborough Police Service is a public warning after multiple reports of a scam involving a fake taxi.
The scam involves a person asking the victim to help them pay for their taxi fare. When the good Samaritan helps out and enters their PIN into the card reader, they are distracted and the victim’s card is swapped out for a fake card. The suspects then leave the area with the original card and the PIN number.
Police say the incidents are occuring outside of businesses.
