Peterborough Police Service has recovered a stolen truck from a Stewart Street driveway that was stolen sometime overnight on Boxing Day (Monday).
On Tuesday just before 8:30 p.m. police were dispatched to a business on Lansdowne Street East regarding a suspicious customer that left behind a bag full of various pieces of identification. Police were told two people were seen loading up a cart and left after noticing they were being watched.
One of them was currently in the store attempting to get her property back. Police approached the customer and asked for identification and received a fake name from the customer. They were arrested for obstructing officers and taken to a police vehicle in the parking lot.
Police received information that the customer had arrived in a truck that was currently parked alongside the building. It was the officers who learned it was taken from Stewart Street.
The customer was arrested for being in possession of a stolen vehicle. A police check revealed the accused had two outstanding warrants for her arrest for breach of probation and failure to attend court.
The accused was transported to the Peterborough Police station. During the booking process, several pieces of stolen identification were located. As a result, the accused is facing four additional possession of stolen property charges. The accused was held for bail hearing on Wednesday.
