Woulds, a 2006-born defenceman, was initially selected by the Petes in the 14th round, 269th overall, in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection. He played 45 games for the Petes last season getting one assist. Woulds will report to the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Calgary Canucks, who are hosting the 2025 Centennial Cup.

“With Calgary hosting the Centennial Cup, Dylan will have the opportunity to get regular playing time in a competitive environment this season to continue his development,” said Michael Oke, general manager and vice president of operations. “We will continue to monitor his progress throughout the year.”

Leek, a 2005-born forward, was selected by the Petes in the first round, 11th overall, of the 2023 OHL U18 Priority Selection. He featured in three games for the Petes last season, before joining the Whitecourt Wolverines of the AJHL. He finished the season with the Leamington Flyers of the OJHL, scoring 19 points in 24 games. Leek will join the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League’s Charlottetown Islanders ahead of the 2024-25 season.

“With the season coming up quick, we’ve had to make some more difficult decisions,” commented Oke. “We wish Nathan all the best as he continues his career with Charlottetown in the QMJHL.”

The Petes are back in action on Saturday to host the Guelph Storm at the Cavan Monaghan Community Centre in Millbrook. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The game will be streamed live on the Petes official YouTube page.
