Peterborough Man Facing Several Charges Including Assault After Trying to Enter Residence Without Consent

A 28-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges including assault, possession of a weapon and more after an incident early Sunday morning.

At roughly 2:10 a.m., officers were called to a Park Street and Lansdowne Street area residence and learned that a man was allegedly trying to gain access without consent. When he wasn’t allowed in, he slashed at the male victim and struck his shoulder.  The suspect then slashed the tires on the victim’s vehicle before fleeing the area.  The 65-year-old victim was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment. 

Officers determined the suspect may be returning to their residence in the area Highway 7 and Drummond Line. They spotted the suspect walking on the road and instructed him to stop however the suspect fled.  Police Service Dog Isaac was deployed and the man was apprehended. 

A 28-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault causing bodily harm

  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

  • Mischief under $5000

  • Fail to comply with probation

The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. 

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on Sunday.
