Peterborough Man Arrested On Impaired Driving Charges; Three Teenage Girls Were With the Suspect In the Vehicle

A 59-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired charges after an incident early Sunday morning.

At roughly 12:30 a.m., officers went to the Mount Pleasant Road and Best Road area regarding a possible impaired driver. They located a vehicle matching the description given, conducted a traffic stop and noticed signs of impairment. There was also a discovery of drug paraphernalia. 

Three teenage females were in the vehicle with the man. During the investigation, one of them fled into a field and was safely located by K9 Gryphon about two kilometres away.

The man was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available (Cannabis Control Act)

  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available (Liquor)

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 17.
