Peterborough Lakers Take Control With 3-1 Series Lead Over Six Nations In 12-5 Rout
/The Peterborough Century 21 Lakers put on their most dominating playoff performance with a 12-5 rout over the Six Nations Chiefs and grabbed a 3-1 Major Series Lacrosse final series lead at the Memorial Centre on Tuesday night.
The Lakers shined offensively and defensively out of the gate, leading 4-0 after the first period. They continued their momentum ringing off another six goals while allowing only one after the second period to make it 10-1.
The Lakers scored another five goals and easily held on for the 12-5 win to take game four of the series.
Holden Cattoni led the Lakers with a hat trick and an assist. Shawn Evans, Joe Resetarits and Mark Matthews tacked a pair of goals and four assists each.
Goaltender Doug Buchan stood tall and made 36 saves on 41 shots for a Lakers win.
National Lacrosse League and Major Lacrosse League’s number one overall pick in 2015, Lyle Thompson returned to the lineup and led the Chiefs with two goals.
Game five is on Friday at 8 p.m. at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Ohsweken. If necessary, Game six is in Peterborough on Aug. 28 at 7 p.m.
If Peterborough wins one more game, they will host the Western Lacrosse Association champion for the Mann Cup.
