Peterborough Lakers Headed to Fourth Straight Major Series Lacrosse Final

The Peterborough Century 21 Lakers have advanced to the Major Series Lacrosse (MSL) finals after defeating the Brooklin Lacrosse Club 11-8 at the Peterborough Memorial Centre on Monday night.
Prior to the game, MSL upheld its decision of Brooklin’s game two forfeit. Their assistant coach Gavin Prout was on the bench while serving an ‘Abuse of Officials’ game misconduct.
“The OLA (Ontario Lacrossse Association) made the only decision they could,” said BIll Joiner, Lakers’ board member. “At the latest AGM the OLA said they were cracking down on the abuse that referees face.”
This result awarded the Lakers a 3-1 series lead into Monday night, needing one win to clinch a Mann Cap final spot.
The Lakers built up a 5-1 first period lead and prevented Brooklin being close to catching up. Shawn Evans and Joe Resetarits each netted a hat trick with three goals for the Lakers.
Lakers’ Matt Vinc made 43 saves in his season debut while Brooklin’s Riley Hutchcraft allowed seven goals before being relieved by Nick Damude.
The Lakers face the winner of the Six Nations Chiefs and Cobourg Kodiaks for the Mann Cup. Six Nations leads the series 3-0 with Game 4 on Wednesday night at the Baltimore Rec Centre.
