Peterborough Lakers Clinch Home Playoff Game With Revenge Win Over Brooklin
/The Peterborough Century 21 Lakers can breathe a sigh of relief after clinching a first-round home playoff game, beating the Brooklin Lacrosse Club 13-7 on Thursday night.
This game was the second leg of a home-and-home series between the two teams. The Lakers missed their clinching chance Wednesday but got redemption in their final regular-season game.
The win gave the Lakers a one-point lead in the standings to get 14 points on the season to Brooklin’s 13.
Peterborough went on a 9-1 run late into the second period. Brooklin had six of the last 10 goals of the game but Peterborough kept the game out of reach for a dominating win.
The Cattoni brothers each scored two goals and combined for five assists to lead Peterborough. Brooklin’s Brady Kearnan and Mitch Wilde knotted a pair of goals each.
The best-of-seven Major Series Lacrosse (MSL) semi-final series begins Monday at 7 p.m. at the Memorial Centre. Game three is a Lakers home game for Thursday night.
