Lakehurst’s Michael McGlashan is the county's next millionaire, winning a $1 million LOTTO 6/49 prize in the Gold Ball Draw announced on Tuesday.
His win was from the Sept. 24 draw and purchased his ticket at Chemong Variety on Chemong Road in Peterborough.
The 59-year-old father and grandfather said he is a regular lottery player and only plays LOTTO 6/49.
“I heard on the radio while driving to work that someone in Peterborough won $1 million,” explained McGlashan. “I turned to my son and said, ‘Wow that could be me.’ And he said with a laugh, ‘No way!’”
McGlashan checked his ticket three days later and discovered he won the $1 million.
“I told my son and stepson first,” he said. “They were ecstatic and so happy for me. I feel like a million bucks!”
McGlashan says he plans to make some investments and consider retirement.
