Four Teenagers Facing Assault Charges From July 25 Hate Crime Incident
/Four teenagers are facing assault charges from a hate crime incident according to the Peterborough Police Service on July 25.
The incident happened in the early morning hours in the Hunter Street East and Mark Street area. Through investigation, Police learned that as the youths and the victim passed each other on the street, one suspect spat at the latter.
The victim confronted the group and a struggle ensued. During the altercation, the victim was punched, kicked and had items thrown at him. The victim’s turban was dislodged during the incident. The youths fled the area following the altercation.
As a result of the investigation and consultation with the local crown attorney’s office:
A 14-year-old Ennismore male was arrested and charged with:
Assault with a weapon

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 9.
