Saginaw Spirit forward and former Peterborough Pete Owen Beck made a statement in his first game with his new team, tying a franchise record of most points in a team debut with six against the Windsor Spitfires at the WFCU Centre on Wednesday night.
Beck was traded to Saginaw for Aiden Young, Ottawa’s second-round pick in 2025, Saginaw’s second-round pick in 2027 and Mississauga’s third-round pick in 2026 on Monday.
The Montréal Canadiens prospect's first point came in the second period on the powerplay as a secondary assist. He also tacked on two more helpers in Saginaw’s next two goals.
His first goal did not come until almost five minutes into the third on the powerplay. He rifled a one-timer slapshot between the faceoff circle and dot for his first goal and fourth point with Saginaw.
After getting another assist, Beck scored his second of the game and sixth point of the night with another one-timer roughly in the same spot as his last goal but from more inside the faceoff circle.
It was Saginaw’s 11th goal of the game and routed the Spitfires 11-3. Beck’s six points ties the record with Pavel Mintyukov, Dalton Duhart, Cole Coskey and Vincent Trocheck.
The Petes are going to Hogwarts to host the Frontenacs on Thursday for Harry Potter night at the Peterborough Memorial Centre.
