The Fleming Phoenix entered the new year with some new gym updates and fresh faces to the men’s basketball team against the Durham Lords but could not kick off January right.
The Phoenix fell to the Lords 79-68 at the Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre (PSWC) on Wednesday. Fleming were the underdogs, sporting a 2-8 record to the powerhouse Lords winning nine of their ten games.
Fleming had five new players this semester that made their season debut with the team.
Shawn Blackwood had 37 points, Tristan Paguirigan scored 10 points, Paul-Ryan Molay netted nine points and Lystra White got eight points as Fleming’s top scorers.
