Electric City Football Club And Peterborough Petes Join Forces To Make Peterborough A Top Sports Destination

The Peterborough Petes and Electric City Football Club announced their partnership in an effort to promote sporting excellence across Peterborough and the region on Tuesday.

The Peterborough Petes are the oldest operating junior franchise in the Ontario Hockey League producing over 250 NHL draft-selected players since 1956.

Electric City Football Club (ECFC) began operations in 2021 to bring professional soccer to Peterborough. The club has been accepted into League1 Ontario to compete in the Men’s and Women’s Premier Division beginning in the spring of 2022.

The two Peterborough franchises will be working together and supporting each other in an effort to make Peterborough a top sports destination in Canada for fans. The Petes and ECFC will additionally be teaming up to foster a community where local athletes and top talent from across the country will seek out the Electric City as a city to play, train, and develop.

“The Petes are incredibly excited to partner with ECFC. In addition to continuing to present new opportunities for our fans, we want to work with Rob and his team to provide our local athletes the chance to train and compete at the top level in Peterborough,” said Dave Pogue, Petes president.

The community can expect to see lots of cross promotional activities, joint events, and co-operation between the organizations throughout the year. Both franchises see this bringing together of two great sporting cultures as a win-win.

Tickets are now on sale to the general public for the three upcoming Petes home games permitting a 500 spectator capacity.
