The project will refresh this portion of Lansdowne Street and is being developed to improve accessibility and safety for vehicular, pedestrian, and cycling traffic according to the city.

The project is being done in phases, with Phase 1 being constructed in 202 which will include works from east of the Park Street intersection to the west of the George Street intersection and will include the signalization of the Aylmer Street and Lansdowne Street intersection.

The general goals of the project are to:

  • Improve traffic flow, vehicle safety and driveway access from Park Street to Lock Street;

  • Improve the safety and functionality of intersections along Lansdowne Street at Park Street, Aylmer Street and George Street;

  • Implement a signalized intersection at Lansdowne Street and Aylmer Street to improve safety and to provide signalized access to the new Arena and Aquatics Complex which is currently under construction;

  • Improve pedestrian and cyclist access by providing an off-street multi-use trail on the south side of Lansdowne Street from Park Street to Lock Street; and,

  • Improve pedestrian safety on Lansdowne Street by providing a boulevard between the roadway and the sidewalk on the north side of the street.

The City’s community consultation website Connect Peterborough features a project page that provides the project scope and plans, additional project information and resources. The webpage also allows residents to submit questions and provide feedback through the online engagement tool.

The project team will review and consider all feedback and implement changes to the project plans where feasible.
