Balanced Attack Gives Peterborough Lakers 9-4 Win to Take Game Two Over Brooklin L.C.

Eight different goal scorers for the Peterborough Lakers gets the job done in game two of the Major Series Lacrosse semifinals as they take a 2-0 series lead over Brooklin L.C. in a 9-4 win at the Peterborough Memorial Centre on Thursday.

Both teams traded goals in the first period as Turner Evans and Holden Cattoni scored for the Lakers while Kyle Waters and Curtis Knight had goals for Brooklin. The score was 2-2 after one.

The Lakers scored three goals while clamping down defensively against the visitors. Austin Hasen and Adam Thistlethwaite scored while Evans got his second of the game for a 5-2 lead.

Peterborough never had to look back heading into the third. Joe Resetarits opened the scoring 2:08 into the frame. Austin Shanks got a power-play goal just under five minutes later in response. Peterborough had a three-goal run to put the game out of reach for Brooklin. Matt Gilray, Koleton Marquis and Owen Hiltz had the goals for the Lakers.

Shakes scored a last-minute goal for Brooklin but it was too little, too late and Peterborough got the 9-4 win and game two of the series to lead 2-0 in the best-of-seven series.

Buchan held Brooklin scoreless for almost 30 minutes, stopping 48 of 52 shots.

Game three is at Iroquois Park Sports Centre in Whitby this Saturday at 8 p.m. Game four is back in Peterborough on Thursday at 8 p.m.
