Lakefield-based Chef Brian Henry was among six chefs and a small army of volunteers who created an 8,000 pound butter tart in Uxbridge, Ontario on Saturday (September 17th)—the world's largest butter tart.
They began making the butter tart early Saturday morning. It had a 16-foot diameter and was baked in a custom 18 by 18 foot oven.
"Marco Cassano of Annina's Bakery in Uxbridge is the chef behind the project," Chef Henry tells PTBOCanada. "It is a fundraiser for the Children's Wish Foundation and will be in the Guinness Book of World Records. Marco and I are old friends and he called me in to assist and manage stuff like this that arise."

About 500 pounds of raisins are in the epic butter tart, Chef Henry tells PTBOCanada.
This butter tart—which broke the old world record that French bakers had of 4,800 pounds—took about 6 hours to bake, and everyone who makes a $5 donation to Children's Wish Foundation got a delicious piece of it.
Here it is coming out of the oven and being served...
Well done to Lakefield's Chef Henry for being involved with this record-breaking day for a great cause!
