OPP Remind Pokémon Go Players That It Is Not OK To Trespass In Facebook Post Gone Viral

Pokémon Go, which allows players to capture, battle, and train virtual creatures—Pokémon—who appear throughout the real world (it's a "GPS-guided treasure hunt using a smartphone camera"), has become a viral sensation around the world.

But one of the problems with this mammoth hit is that some of the players are trespassing onto private property—we've heard of several instances in Peterborough—to catch Pokémon.

In a Facebook post gone viral posted on Friday—it has nearly 8,000 shares already, and over 9,000 "Likes"—the OPP has this to say to Pokémon trainers, as they're known:

"OPP would like to remind all Pokemon trainers that trying to catch elusive ‪#‎Pokemon‬ is not a valid reason for trespassing. There have been reports in Ontario of players trespassing on public and private property, including OPP detachments and parking lots! Please make sure you respect the laws and privacy of the communities you are exploring. Also, remember your own personal safety by being aware of your surroundings, looking both ways for traffic and staying out of potentially dangerous situations. If you've gotta catch 'em all, do so safely!"

The OPP also put out a reminder to the public in a series of tweets...
