A Bunch Of Peterborough Police Officers Just Brought Christmas Joy To 24 Kids

Wednesday (December 7th) was the 10th Annual Cop Shop event held at Lansdowne Place Mall. Twenty four kids were chosen by their school based on good school citizenship, school, volunteer or academic achievement, and were picked up at their schools in a limo courtesy of Welsh Limousine. They were then taken to Lansdowne Place where they are paired up with a Peterborough Police Officer or Special Constable and a bond was quickly formed.

The kids were greeted outside Lansdowne Place by police officers when the limo arrived...

The children were given a $200 gift card courtesy of Lansdowne Place to do shopping for family and friends. Stores in the mall give the kids additional discounts and treats. Purchases are wrapped and tagged by mall staff and volunteers while students shop.

The kids were then treated to lunch with the officers, followed by a photo with Santa Claus and then a limo ride back to school. This was awesome for the officers to volunteer their time and give these children such a special day. For many of the officers, this event is a highlight in their year.
