PTBOCanada Featured Post: Meet The Team Behind Peterborough's JBL First Aid
/In all of life’s scenarios, there might not be one more necessary to be prepared for than when a medical emergency occurs. To be unprepared for a game or a test is one thing, but when our actions could mean the difference between life and death, being unprepared could have devastating results.
JBL First Aid founder John Bowker
John Bowker of JBL First Aid, which operates out of Peterborough, knows this all too well. Too often as a career firefighter responding to medical emergencies, he has heard this phrase upon arrival: “I didn’t know what to do!”
It was for this reason, Bowler says, that he started JBL First Aid—a certified Red Cross Training Partner based out of Peterborough. It was created with an aim to offer an alternative to the indecision and uncertainty many of us face during a crisis. By following a simple set of proven steps taught during a first aid program, people can confidently provide care in those critical few minutes before professional first responders arrive. With first aid training under your belt, you will know what to do.
Once the President of the local Red Cross branch and currently a Red Cross partner, John and his experienced team at JBL are licensed to use the Red Cross training template, and upon course completion issue Red Cross certification cards. John’s team consists of his daughters Rikki and D’Arcy—along with Adam Guerin and Alex DeCuhna, who have over 50 years’ experience combined in safety related fields ranging from firefighting and the military to life guarding and commercial diving.
