Bomb Threat At GE: Employees Located A Note Saying There Was Bomb In The Building

From a Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Service Media Release today...

With the assistance of Explosive Disposal Technicians and an Explosive Detection dog and handler from the Ontario Provincial Police, investigators from the Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Service have confirmed that there is no explosive device present.   Emergency Responders from Police, Fire and EMS have cleared the area.  Investigation will continue into the origin of the note.

Bomb Threat Update:
The Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Service continues to work with senior officials with GE Canada. Preliminary investigation has revealed that there are no public safety concerns for persons outside of the plant. The investigation is continuing and updates will be provided as we receive new information.

Bomb Threat:
On the 16th of September at approximately 12:11 pm, employees in building 12 at the GE Plant located a note indicating there was bomb in the building. The Police and Fire Department responded and the entire plant, approximately 500 employees, have been evacuated and the afternoon shift has been cancelled. The investigation is continuing and the OPP Explosive Disposal Unit has been called to assist in searching the building.
