PTBOCanada Featured Post: Downtown Peterborough Is Rocking This Spring/Summer With Events Galore

Fasten your seatbelts Peterborough, as it’s going to be a busy summer in the middle of the city! Downtown Peterborough has a ton of events coming your way that will keep you entertained from late May through to mid-September, and many of the events won’t cost you a penny (not that we use them much anymore, anyways).

If you’re looking to keep yourself busy this Spring/Summer and you’re not heading out of town, or if you’re coming to our community for a visit, we’ll give you a rundown of what you can expect!

Live and Local Lunches are back starting May 25th, taking place over the noon hour each Friday until August 31st.

They feature local acts entertaining crowds at the Peterborough Square Courtyard while they enjoy their lunches. Pretty self explanatory, isn’t it? Come one, come all! This is a great event for everyone under the sun.

The always popular Taste of Downtown is taking place on Saturday, June 2nd this year, featuring a wide array of tasty local vendors you may or may not already know. This is a good opportunity for people to try a little bit of this and a little bit of that food and drink wise, while enjoying live entertainment at the same time.

Returning for its third year is the international stage featuring music and dance from around the world. It’s the most appetizing event of the year! You’ll find it on Charlotte St. again between George St. and Aylmer St.

The 4th Annual Kawartha Craft Beer Festival is back this Summer on June 8th and 9th at Millennium Park, featuring our city’s very own Publican House and Smithavens Brewing Company collaborating.

Come ready to sample Ontario’s finest craft beers, try some local foods, enjoy live entertainment and have a great time discovering new craft beer flavours!

Love old fashioned cars? The Peterborough Car Show hosted by Mercedes Benz Peterborough is taking over Hunter St. on June 17th! You never know what you’ll find parked in the café district so come prepared or anything and everything.

Canada Day wouldn’t be Canada Day without a parade to celebrate our incredible country. July 1st lands on a Sunday this year so come dressed in your finest red and white and be ready to cheer on the floats as they travel down George Street.

Put on your bibs and head down to Millennium Park between July 13th and 15th for Ribfest as it returns for another tasty year.

Try local ribs from some of our city’s great restaurants or combine them with some of the traveling pros as they visit our city.

The award-winning Peterborough Pulse event is happening on July 21st.

If you’ve never experienced this one, it’s a must. Mark it down on your calendar. It’s a vibrant, playful and active car-free corridor through the heart of Peterborough. For one summer morning, George Street is filled with families pushing strollers, cyclists and roller-skaters, Karate and fencing demonstrations, art and music, and more.

Music fans take note, the Hootenanny on Hunter St. is August 11th. This all day/evening event features a plethora of musical acts from more genres than we can count, bringing non-stop entertainment. It’s a street festival for everyone and each year there are acts that always surprise.

Big Band Day is back on Saturday, September 15th featuring our very own Peterborough Concert Band, Knightshift, the Dixie Cats and The L’ll Big Band entertaining the masses at the Peterborough Square Courtyard.

After its inaugural event in 2017, Peterborough VegFest is returning on Sunday, September 16th. It’s an opportunity for people in the community and beyond to sample and learn about the delicious benefits of a plant-based diet. The event takes place at Millennium Park so come hungry!
