Awesome: Peterborough Huskies Hockey Team Now Has A Baseball Team Too

The Peterborough Huskies—the well known special needs hockey team—are participating in their inaugural season of Junior and Intermediate baseball through the months of July and August.

The teams are based on experience—although no experience is required to participate on either team. The Junior squad has 33 players and the Intermediates team has 10.

Both teams are open to anyone with special needs, and they're proud to include two wheelchair players on the Juniors.

"The emphasis is on fun mixed in with learning the fundamentals of the game, and parents that may need to accompany their children on the field are encouraged to do so," coach Chris J-Boy Williams tells PTBOCanada.

Juniors play every Tuesday from July 7th through August 26th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Edminson Heights Ball Diamond (1111 Royal Drive) in the North End.

Intermediates play every Sunday from July 5th through August 23rd from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Westclox Ball Diamond Armour Road, South of Hunter beside the EMS Station.

The cost to participate is $30—and that includes a T-shirt... and lots of fun. The Peterborough Huskies provide the bats and balls, and have extra gloves for the Juniors.
