It was announced Friday (October 2nd) that local innovators in agriculture, Next Millennium Farms, have won the "Startup Canada Award for Sustainable Development" for Ontario.

The Norwood-based farm are innovators in the protein revolution with a new, environmentally sound method of food production. They are producing a wide array of cricket flour, insect flours and cricket proteins.

This nomination was written and submitted by Startup Peterborough. As a new Startup Community through the Startup Canada network, this is a great win for Peterborough and will continue to put the region on the map as a place where innovators and entrepreneurs can succeed.

The Award reception for the Ontario Awards take place in Ottawa on November 17th.
