Big Band Day at Millennium Park

Join us for Big Band Day in Peterborough!

The Peterborough Concert Band will perform on September 16 from 12 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. at Millennium Park, Peterborough. This concert focuses on and celebrates the beloved music of the Big Band era. The Concert Band, which is conducted by Saman Shahi, will play as part of a multi-band event to entertain not only those who come specifically to hear the music, but also downtown shoppers, riverside walkers, and Silver Bean patrons. The Concert Band will open the event with a program that showcases the band's broad repertoire, including but not limited to the “big band” genre. This free event is generously sponsored by the Downtown Business Improvement Area of Peterborough. As this is an outdoor event, it is weather dependent. There is no rain date.

The Peterborough Concert Band is a spirited community band based in Peterborough, Ontario. Founded in 1858, it is one of the oldest continuously operating concert bands in Canada. For over 165 years, it has reflected the cultural and historical life of Peterborough and the nation. The Concert Band continues to be innovative, vibrant, and relevant today with an extensive repertoire that includes popular, traditional, and contemporary music, as well as new commissions, show tunes and classical gems.
