Opening Celebration for Art Installations in the Jiimaan’ndewemgadnong (The Place Where the Canoe Heart Beats) Pocket Park in Downtown Peterborough.

Peterborough, Ont (11 September, 2020) The Downtown Vibrancy Project (a partnership of GreenUP and the Peterborough Downtown Business Improvement Area) is pleased to celebrate the official opening of the Jiimaan’ndewemgadnong (The Place Where the Canoe Heart Beats) pocket park and art installations. Join us in person or online via @PtboGreenUP on Instagram and Facebook. Hear from Tia Cavanagh, the local Anishinaabe artist who created the two pieces of art in the garden. There will also be a performance and smudging ceremony by the Georgina Island Drum Circle.

WHY 
The pocket park is the second large downtown greenspace created by the Downtown Vibrancy Project, a multi-year, collaborative revitalization project. Over 50 community volunteers, and many local businesses and organizations helped to create this lively 100 m2 space.
