Lady Eaton College and the Trent-Fleming Nursing Students' Association Present: The Art & Science of Health & Healing Speaker Series

Being home-less in a time we are told to be home more: Making the argument for housing as a basic public health need

"There is an underlying assumption in public health messaging during pandemic outbreaks, such as COVID-19. We are commonly told to stay home, keep our distance, wash our hands, and get plenty of rest yet achieving these goals is only possible if one has the private space in which to do so. Pandemics highlight the existing cracks within our social systems, including the lack of affordable housing. What if – rather than creating separate pandemic plans for people experiencing homelessness – we put our efforts into finding people housing before an outbreak even began?" - Dr. Kristy Buccieri

This semester's speaker series will be held via Zoom. All registrants will receive a link via email to attend the event.
